Minister Lim Hng Kiang to attend the 13th AEM Retreat

Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Lim Hng Kiang, is attending the 13th ASEAN Economic Ministers' (AEM) Retreat and related Consultations in Brunei Darussalam on 3-4 May 2007.

The AEM will be discussing internal integration matters, and will be meeting with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Akira Amari, and the European Union Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson.

The focus of the AEM Retreat will be on the progress of ASEAN’s economic integration. In particular, Ministers will discuss ASEAN’s blueprint for realising an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015, a document to be endorsed at the ASEAN Summit in Singapore in November this year.

Minister Lim will be accompanied by officers from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
