Fruitful Visit to Singapore by Chief Minister of Karnataka

Singapore companies invited by Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to participate actively in upcoming projects in infrastructure, environmental and water treatment

The Chief Minister of the Indian state of Karnataka, Shri HD Kumaraswamy visited Singapore from 26 to 29 June 2006 at the invitation of Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang. The visit was aimed at fostering greater business collaboration between the state of Karnataka and Singapore.

During their meeting, Minister Lim and Chief Minister Kumaraswamy discussed the potential for strengthening economic linkages between Singapore and Karnataka. Both sides were keen for Singapore companies to seize the opportunities available and play a part in Karnataka’s development plans.

During his visit Chief Minister Kumaraswamy visited various Singapore companies and agencies. His delegation also participated in a networking session on the investment opportunities in Karnataka with the members of the Singapore Indian Chamber Commerce & Industry. He also met with members of the Kannada community in Singapore at a session organized by the Kannada Sangha association.

The Chief Minister described his visit to Singapore as a fruitful one, with Singapore companies expressing interest in projects in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka. He extended an invitation to Singapore-based companies to participate in the infrastructure, environmental and water treatment projects in Karnataka. He was impressed by the companies that met his delegation including Hilux and Singapore Land Transport Consortium (SLTC) and encouraged them to consider investment opportunities in Karnataka.
