LIM HNG KIANG TO ATTEND THE 47TH ASEAN ECONOMIC MINISTERS’
MEETING AND RELATED MEETINGS IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA,
21-25 AUGUST 2015
1. Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang will attend the 47th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ (AEM) Meeting and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21 to 25 August 2015. The other meetings include the 29th ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) Council Meeting, the 18th ASEAN Investment Area (AIA) Council Meeting, and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
2. At these meetings, the Ministers will discuss the progress of economic integration initiatives, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015, post-2015 AEC vision, and economic relations with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners. There will also be discussion on the progress of negotiations on the wider regional agreement – the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), involving ASEAN and its Free Trade Agreement Partners of Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand.
