Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan will
visit Xi’an, Shaanxi from 24 to 26
September 2007 to
attend the 4th International Senior Advisor Conference and to
promote Singapore’s
business interests in areas of IT, logistics, real estate
development and tourism.
With GDP growing at 20%annually over the past four years, Shaanxi, an economic gateway into Western China, possesses good growth potential and attractive opportunities for Singapore businesses. With an actual FDI of US$117.7 million, Singapore was the province’s third largest investor after Hong Kong and the United States in 2006. Bilateral trade has grown at an average of 25% per annum since 2004 to reach US$110.3 million last year.
During the visit, MOS Lee will meet with Shaanxi and Xi’an leaders to further promote collaboration between Singapore and ShaanxiProvince. MOS Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and International Enterprise Singapore.
