COMPLETION OF THE SECOND ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE PAKISTAN-SINGAPORE FTA
The Governments of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Singapore completed the second round of negotiations on the Pakistan-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) which were held from 16 to 18 Jan 2006 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Both sides had fruitful discussions and made further progress on the key issues tabled during the first round in the chapters on trade in goods, rules of origin, trade in services, investment, and the legal elements of the FTA. Both sides also commenced discussions on telecommunications, e-commerce, government procurement, customs, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and technical barriers to trade.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in Singapore by April 2006.
