Public Consultation on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework

Introduction

1. A Stakeholder Listening Session for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) will be held on 11 May 2023, 9.00 am, on the sidelines of the next IPEF negotiating round in Singapore from 8 to 15 May 2023. During the session, stakeholders are invited to deliver a brief intervention on issues of interest in the IPEF.

Overview

2. The IPEF was launched on 23 May 2022 and currently includes 14 partners – Australia, Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the US and Vietnam. Ministers from all IPEF partners met from 8 to 9 September 2022 in Los Angeles and launched Ministerial Statements on the four IPEF Pillars of cooperation – Trade, Supply Chains, Clean Economy and Fair Economy. 

3. The IPEF provides a platform for countries to collaborate on advancing resilient, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and aims to contribute to cooperation, stability, and prosperity in the region.

4. Three rounds of IPEF negotiations have been held to date, in Brisbane, Australia (for all Pillars, December 2022); New Delhi, India (for the Supply Chains, Clean Economy and Fair Economy Pillars, February 2023); and Bali, Indonesia (for all Pillars, March 2023). Singapore will host the next negotiating round for all Pillars.

Administrative Details

5. The Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry, Office of the US Trade Representative and the US Department of Commerce invite interested stakeholders to participate in an upcoming Stakeholder Listening Session in Singapore. Similar sessions have been organized on the sidelines of earlier negotiating rounds in Brisbane, New Delhi, and Bali.

7. If you are interested to participate in this event, please register with MTI_IPEF@mti.gov.sg, IPEF@ustr.eop.gov and uscommerceipef@trade.gov by 9 May 2023 and indicate whether you are interested in delivering a short intervention/presentation. In the email subject line, please indicate “Singapore Listening Session.

8. Please note that all participants must be registered to attend this event. Given the limited number of places available, you are strongly advised to register your participation early.
