Statement on the Development Works at Kranji Close/Kranji Road

Statement on the Development Works at Kranji Close/Kranji Road

1. On 10 March 2022, Minister Chan Chun Sing informed Parliament of inaccuracies in his previous parliamentary statement on 26 February 2021 regarding the Agri-Food Innovation Park (AFIP) clearance incident at Kranji Close/Kranji Road. [Please refer to the Annex for Minister Chan’s statement.]

2. When the matter arose last year, two officers from JTC Corporation (JTC) had provided inaccurate information to their supervisors, and the inaccurate information was subsequently conveyed to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). The case is now with the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to consider if any charges should be brought.

3. MTI takes a very stern and serious view of this incident.  We do not condone such misconduct. The JTC Board of Directors will convene a disciplinary panel to consider appropriate disciplinary actions against the officers involved, as well as their senior supervisors if they had been in breach of their duties.  JTC will also strengthen its land clearance and project management processes.
