MINISTER LIM HNG KIANG TO ATTEND 43rd AEM AND RELATED MEETINGS IN MANADO, INDONESIA, 10-13 AUGUST 2011 

Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Lim Hng Kiang is in Manado, Indonesia to attend the 43rd ASEAN Economic Ministers’ (AEM) Meeting and Related Meetings from 10 to 13 August 2011.

At the AEM, ASEAN Economic Ministers will discuss the progress in the regional economic integration initiatives that contribute towards establishing an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015.To further advance the work on the AEC, private sector members will also be participating in related meetings at the AEM, including a round-table discussion at the ASEAN Trade Facilitation Forum. The private sector members will subsequently share and discuss the outcome of their discussions at a dialogue with the Ministers.

The ASEAN Economic Ministers will also meet their counterparts from Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, New Zealand and the USA to discuss issues relating to ASEAN’s Free Trade Agreements and economic relations with the Dialogue Partners.

Mr Lim is accompanied by Second Permanent Secretary for Trade and Industry Mrs Ow Foong Pheng and other officials from the Ministry.
