SINGAPOREAND EMILIA-ROMAGNA REGION SIGN MOU ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION
Singapore and the Emilia-Romagna Region of Italy today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on economic cooperation. The MOU seeks to promote the development of closer trade, economic and investment ties between the two parties.
Under the MOU, both parties will aim to create manufacturing platforms, and boost cooperation in other areas such as education, research, technological and scientific development. They will also explore the creation of joint ventures, industrial cooperation, leasing and management.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Armando Campagnoli, Councillor of Production Activities, Economic Development and Telematics Plan of the Emilia-Romagna Region and Dr Loo Choon Yong, Ambassador of Singapore to Italy. The signing was witnessed by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and President of the Emilia-Romgna Region Vasco Errani. SM Goh is on an official visit to Italy from 19-26 November 2006.
The Emilia-Romagna region is located in the northern part of Italy. Its key industries include manufacturing, automotive, food and tourism. The principal city of the region is Bologna.
